For more than thirty-five years, J. Patrick (“Rick”) Fleming, Jr. has specialized in civil litigation and trial practice in the state and federal courts of California. During his many years of practice, he has advised and represented business and individual clients in a wide range of legal disputes, including commercial matters involving office buildings, shopping centers and malls, real estate and contract litigation, allegations of business fraud, defamation, and interference, construction development issues between owners and contractors, unlawful detainer and mechanics’ lien litigation, and unfair competition. Mr. Fleming also has significant experience representing individuals and companies in pursuing or defending products liability and personal injury claims.

Mr. Fleming graduated, cum laude, from the University of California, San Diego. He then attended and graduated from Georgetown University Law Center, ranking near the top 5% of his class. In addition, he was an editor of Georgetown’s Law & Policy in International Business law journal.

After graduation, Mr. Fleming began his practice as a litigation associate at Musick, Peeler & Garrett in Los Angeles. He later joined Wyman, Bautzer, Rothman, & Kuchel in Century City as a litigation associate. In 1981, Mr. Fleming began his own practice, specializing in business and tort litigation. Thereafter, Mr. Fleming attended the Pacific Regional Session of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and participated in the Trial Attorney Project jointly taught by the Los Angeles City Attorney and District Attorney’s offices. Mr. Fleming’s solo practice lasted until 1995, when he joined what is now Case Knowlson LLP in Century City. He is now Chairman of the Litigation Department, and has received the highest peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell: AV.

In today’s business environment, it is essential to litigate efficiently. Mr. Fleming represents his clients aggressively, but does so in a cost-sensitive manner, staying focused on the issues. Mr. Fleming has successfully tried many cases in federal and state courts, and has represented clients in numerous arbitrations and mediations. He is a firm believer in thorough preparation, and dedicates whatever time and effort is needed to best represent his client’s interests.

Mr. Fleming is a longstanding member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers of California, and the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles.
